Privacy Policy for TidyTable

The short version

TidyTable never sends your table data anywhere. Your tables are read and converted entirely inside your browser.

The free version makes no network requests at all. If you buy Pro, the extension checks your licence roughly once a day. That check sends your licence code and nothing else.

What data we collect

None.

There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no error tracking and no usage measurement. We do not know how many tables you export, which sites you visit, or whether you use the extension at all.

Network requests, precisely

Free version: none. Not on install, not on startup, not during use, not in the background. You can verify this in DevTools: open the Network tab and use the extension. There will be nothing to see.

Pro: one request, roughly once a day. The extension sends your licence code to tidytable-app.netlify.app/api/licence. Our server asks Stripe whether that code corresponds to a real, completed, unrefunded purchase, and answers yes or no.

That request contains your licence code and nothing else. No page content, no table data, no URL of the page you are on, no identifier for you or your machine. The response contains a yes/no and the date of purchase. It contains no email address and no personal details.

The daily re-check exists so that a refund removes Pro automatically. If the check cannot complete, whether because you are offline or our server is down, your Pro access is left exactly as it was. It is never revoked because we failed to reach the server.

The extension package contains no remote code, no external fonts, no CDN references and no third-party scripts.

What the extension can access

TidyTable requests five permissions:

• activeTab lets the extension read the page you are currently viewing, and only after you click the extension icon or use its right-click menu item. It cannot read any page you have not explicitly invoked it on, and it cannot read anything in the background.
• scripting lets the extension run its table-reading code in that tab, again only when you invoke it.
• contextMenus adds the right-click menu entry.
• sidePanel lets the panel open beside the page.
• storage saves your settings on your own device.

TidyTable requests no host permissions. It has no standing access to any website.

What is stored on your device

Your preferences (export format, delimiter, which cleaning rules start on) and, if you have Pro, your licence code and the cached result of the last licence check. All of this stays in the browser's local extension storage on your machine. Removing the extension removes it.

Table contents

Table data is read from the page, converted in your browser's memory, and written to a file you download or to your clipboard. It never leaves your machine and we never see it. This is true of the free version and Pro alike.

Purchases

Payment is processed by Stripe, which receives the information required to take a payment under its own privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.

We receive your email address so we can send your licence code and help you recover it later. We use it for nothing else and do not send marketing email to purchasers unless they separately opt in.

Your licence code arrives once as part of the address of the confirmation page, which means it may be recorded in your browser history. It is also sent to you by email.

Server logs

Requests to our licence endpoint are handled by Netlify, which keeps ordinary server logs including IP addresses, as any web server does. We do not use these to build any profile of you and we do not connect them to your licence or your purchase.

Children

TidyTable is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We collect no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the previous version remains in the changelog at https://tidytable-app.netlify.app/changelog.

If TidyTable ever makes a network request beyond the licence check described above, that will be stated here and in the release notes before it ships.
